This DOT Hazmat Basic General Awareness course is a 4-hour introductory course for all employees involved in the transportation of hazardous materials and meets the DOT's requirements for General Awareness training.
All workers employed in an industry that involves the preparation or transportation of hazardous materials must have DOT General Awareness training. This includes not just drivers and manufacturers, but anyone who manufactures, repairs, or reconditions containers used to transport hazardous materials.
This course will provide students with an understanding of the wide variety of hazardous materials regulated by the US Department of Transportation (DOT); a basic description of how to use the hazardous materials table and navigate the DOT regulations; when specific hazard labels, placards, and markings are required, as well as exceptions to the requirements; and packaging requirements for hazardous materials.
Upon completion of this course, students will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet identification card,
This course can be taken as initial or as required refresher training. A refresher course is required every three years.
